Kevin Germanier: Meet the Eco-Friendly Designer Transforming Upcycling into ArtNews
At Smiley Originals, we're always looking for talented designers who share our passion for sustainability and innovation. We're thrilled to announce the latest collaboration from our Future Positive® Future Creators Fund, featuring the visionary Kevin Germanier.
Germanier burst onto the fashion scene with his Central Saint Martins' graduate collection in 2018, which focused on luxury upcycled fabrics with arresting details. The collection was a hit and set the tone for his future work, which is inspired by a futuristic vision of utopia.
Germanier rejects the traditional image of eco-friendly fashion, instead creating sculptural jackets, glitter-strewn dresses, and sharply spliced skirts that are more akin to wearable art than everyday wear. And he doesn't shy away from bold colors and striking details.
We're proud to support Kevin Germanier's latest collection, made possible by the Smiley Future Positive Creators Fund. As part of this initiative, we provide monetary funding and mentorship programs to support game-changing designers like Germanier at global fashion weeks, helping them switch to a better, more responsible and circular ideology of design, sourcing, and manufacture.
At Smiley, we're committed to sustainability and responsible production, and Germanier's work aligns perfectly with our goals. His upcycling techniques and use of discarded glass beads are just some examples of his dedication to reducing waste and promoting a more environmentally friendly approach to fashion.
We're excited to see what Germanier has in store for us and can't wait for the world to experience his unique vision of eco-friendly fashion.
