If you're anything like us then you've got an itch for live music; and for good reason too! Music can increase our happiness and help us get on better with others, something I’m sure we could all do with if we’re in a shared household during these times. Cranking your favourite record up loud can be great fun, in fact we definitely recommend it, but sometimes you just want to hear it all stripped back and get that wonderful live experience you’ve been waiting for. Lucky for you, there's a bunch of awesome live isolation gigs happening with some great artists and labels, so we thought we’d compile a list of some of our favourites.
Right, lets get started with our buds over at Defected Records are hosting a Virtual Festival this Bank Holiday Friday starting at 2pm. Featuring some incredible artists such as Claptone, A-Track and Duke Dumont! Tune in and dance to your heart's content, plus there’s more Digital Festivals to catch up on too!
Looking for a virtual festival to get lost in for a weekend?
Some more of of our friends on the list! As part of our partnership with United We Stream we have created an amazing limited-edition fund raising tee shirt for this weekend’s show. All proceeds from this tee will go to funding those workers in Manchester’s night scene that have been so badly affected financially by Covid19 lockdown, funds will also go to Nordoff Robins and the Mayors own charity. Tune in this bank holiday weekend for some dance beats to keep you smiling! Check out there website here to see whats streaming and to pick up some merch!
Dance With Manchester!
The legendary Royal Albert Hall has been stomping ground for most musical heroes. I watched Bright Eyes there around 10 years back and it was an incredible experience. Lucky for us, they’re holding a whole bunch of isolation gigs with some incredible artists. Check out the listings below! We’re particularly excited for Imogen Heap on the 29th of May!
After some high class performances?
Ok, it’s not really our thing, but we get it, your way classier than us! Good thing The Show Must Go On has you covered then ey! Full length, world class performances such as The Phantom Of The Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Love Never Dies and more. There’s plenty to keep the whole family singing along and entertained for days!
Sing along to your favourite musicals!
Metallica are here to get you headbanging! Thrashing guitar riffs and pounding drums get your blood pumping more than musicals? No worries whatsoever. Rock legends Metallica have been providing us with the ROCK. Check out the live sessions they’ve been uploading to YouTube, theirs some absolute classic on there!
Rock Out On The Couch!
Boiler Room started with a webcam taped to a wall, broadcasting from a warehouse in London, opening a keyhole to the city’s underground, since then they’ve hosted more than 5000 artists across 150 cities. Amazing stuff! During isolation they’ve been live streaming set’s from some incredible DJs and artists. Head over to their YouTube to check out the latest performances. We definitely recommend watching the Peggy Gou live stream that’s already up there too, absolute banger!
DJs, Underground artists, dance parties & raves more your kind of thing?
#StayAtHome with Neil Young - We really love this! Legend Neil Young is keeping it simple with some DIY live sessions. Shot by his wife and stripped back it’s like being invited directly into a legends home. Catch them on his website here.
Soothe your nerves during these anxious times? - Norah Jones comes to the rescue. Chilled weekly performances on Thursdays at 10pm. Our fave so far has been the Willie Nelson cover set, but there’s loads of goodness here!
After something a bit different? Miley Cyrus has been "Connecting w/ special guests discussing how to stay LIT in dark times!". 11-30am PT time, Mon-Fri on her Instagram. Not music, but still very cool!, check it out here!
Still not satisfied? - How about hundreds of past Tiny Desk performances to keep you happy? All types of genres in a stripped back and incredibly special performance. For one of our favourites check out the Mac Miller set!
We would love to hear how you get on with these or if you've got any more you would reccomend! Why not get in touch through any of our Social Media channels. We'd love to hear from you!
